About

THE CENTER

For more than 30 years we’ve been holding programs and practice spaces that support folks in being present with reality as it is, and in responding to it from a place of centeredness, care, and Call. Everything we do is grounded in and springs from our core tenets which evolve as we do. Our north star is to provide container for folks to uncover the sacred and practice radical care. Inspired by Gordon Cosby’s “people’s seminary” at Church of the Saviour in Washington, D.C. and Robert Greenleaf’s principles of servant leadership, Kinward was established in 1992 (then Servant Leadership School of Greensboro, NC). We are rooted in teachings of mystics from the Christian Wisdom tradition; emerging research in fields of psychology, sociology, and neuroscience; and ancient practices of prayer and meditation. We aim to serve people of any and all faith traditions, and no faith tradition. Our hope is to be a space where people are delighted to meet across lines of difference, curious to learn from the perspectives of others, and open to being challenged in their ways of thinking and being. We invite you to stop by our space at 1000 Revolution Mill Suite 3. We operate on a four day work week, Monday – Thursday. And we’re closed for the weekend Friday – Sunday except in cases of programming. Please give us an email or call if you want to drop by.

Sustain

THE WORK

Kinward is a 501.c.3 non-profit. We do what we do through the generosity of community members, grants, and family foundations. We trust people will contribute the gifts they can, be it time, money, presence, or wisdom; and that this generosity will ripple out to the benefit of all members of the community. We stand firmly in the commitment that cost will never be a barrier to accessing our teachings. Learn more about ways to give back.

Make presence, practice, and purpose accessible to all.
