Bev Vaughn
PhD
Bev has her BM, MM and PhD in music education from Westminster Choir College and UNCG. She taught for 30 years in public schools and 43 privately. In addition to teaching choir, theater, humanities, and general music, she was a guest choral director for all-county programs, guest lecturer both nationally and internationally and taught private voice and piano. She also founded and directed the Rockingham County Youth Chorus for 15 years.
Although she has been using Reiki since the 1970’s teaching children to deal with performance anxiety, she completed her Usui Reiki certifications in 2017 through Duke Integrative Medicine and her Master Reiki Training and Master teacher certifications in 2019. Additionally, she studied and was certified in Holy Fire III Reiki (Master) and as a Karuna Reiki Master teacher. She completed her Animal Reiki levels 1, 2 and Master Teacher and is certified by the ICRT. She completed over 500 hours of training and practice during these certifications. She is a member of the International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT) and is fully accredited. She is also a member of the Center for Reiki Research and has published an article on Reiki and Cancer.
Currently she has been practicing Reiki at Cone Cancer Center since 2022, and she has been teaching for the Hirsch Wellness Network since 2021. She also is a certified EFT Tapping clinician, Breathworks and MBSR Coach and holds level 1 certificates in The Silva Method, Huna, HeartMath and Sound Therapy. She is a Stephen minister and a Community of Hope lay minister.
Bev enjoys doing energy work, hiking, painting, and learning new things!
