Around a year ago, we were re-opening the doors of Second Breath Center after having been closed and virtual during the COVID years. We knew we were returning to a changed Greensboro and for this reason and others, we put great emphasis on deep and active listening to community – team members, facilitators, and students; area-faith leaders, therapists, social workers, and advocates.
Now, one year into this new adventure, we find ourselves pulled towards dream-scaping on a longer horizon. We are beginning to map a 3-year vision for a Second Breath Center that is place-based in Greensboro, by Greensboro, and for Greensboro.
There are 3 big questions that remain unresolved, that are critical to shaping this 3-year vision. Would you join us in discernment on these questions?
What topics is this organization called and uniquely gifted to address programmatically?
Where is the Center’s long-term home? What should it feel like? What should it look like?
Once Servant Leadership School, now Second Breath Center – what do we call ourselves in this next chapter? How do we tell people what we are about?
Your perspective is valuable to us. We believe that each of us have deep wisdom within about what we personally, what our people, and what the broader Greensboro community most needs – in terms of programming and gathering spaces. And we trust that the meeting of minds and spirits will support us in finding clarity on the above questions.
